We are overjoyed to have celebrated the official opening of Excelsior Village Academies with a vibrant Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, August 3, 2024. CEO and Founder, Michelle Flowers, warmly greeted the eagerly awaiting Founding Families before inviting them to explore our new, community-designed school.

Excelsior Village Academies stands as a beacon of educational excellence, a tuition-free public charter school dedicated to nurturing scholars in grades K-8 from Henry, Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton counties, and the Atlanta Public School district. In our inaugural year, we are focusing on educating young minds in grades K-3, with an ambitious plan to add an additional grade each school year. Official classes commenced on Monday, August 5, 2024.

The ceremony and subsequent school tour were filled with palpable excitement and joy. Families expressed their elation at having their children attend Henry County’s first charter school. School leaders proudly guided families through the building, introducing them to their scholars’ dedicated teachers and preparing them for the first day of a new academic adventure. One parent beamed with pride as she discussed why she enrolled her son in this supportive environment. “His former school tried to label him as a problematic student, but I wasn’t having it. I know they couldn’t give him the support he needed. I am hoping the 1:1 environment here will provide the attention he needs to succeed,” she shared passionately.

The day was a true celebration, filled with the beats of lively music hosted by a DJ, bar-b-q for the families to enjoy, and fun activities (face-painting and bounce house) specially designed for our K-3 grade scholars. The atmosphere buzzed with laughter, hope, and the promise of a bright future for our young learners.
